SUMMER STAFF 2011

CAMP DIRECTOR

Verna (Gran Gran)

Verna or Gran Gran as she is known around camp, is back for another great summer. This time she has a summer of experience under her belt and is implementing great new ideas and programs into Camp Tamarack, with that wonderful positive Gran attitude.

Don’t be surprised if you see a few of her grandchildren running around throughout the summer; she is called “Gran Gran” for a reason.

ASSISTANT CAMP DIRECTOR

Kate Litvak (Lava)

Lava was recently promoted from Business Manager to Assistant Camp Director. She has proved to be an essential member of the Camp Tamarack team and we wish her the best in her new position.

Returning this year as Business Manager, a new position created this summer, is one of the program coordinators from summer 2010, Lava.

She just recently completed her Bachelor of Education Degree from the University of Lethbridge and is excited for another great summer at Camp Tamarack.

Don’t let the title fool you, just because her job mostly has to do with the office/administration side of things, she’ll be around causing ruckus, telling jokes and being silly just like last year.

PROGRAM COORDINATOR

Victoria CloseSpatula

Coming all the way from St. Catherine’s Ontario again this summer, we are please to have Spatula on as our wonderful program coordinator.

Spatula is a fantastic resource for camp with her extensive experience working with campers with special needs.

Taking on more responsibility this summer as program coordinator and a member of the senior staff, she will be around for anything and everything you need.

Don’t let the picture fool you, she is actually a very serious person!

MEDIC

Amy Rausch (Hubble)

We are happy to have Amy Rausch as our medic this summer. She is a 3rd year nursing student at the Grant McEwan University in Edmonton. She is very excited to spend an entire summer helping you out with all your bumps and bruises.

SPECIAL NEEDS COUNSELLORS

Otter

Otter is back for another great summer at Camp Tamarack.

She gained a ton of experience with children and adults with special needs last summer, we thought it was only fitting for her to return in a position that best fits her abilities and experience.

Similar to last summer, Otter hopes to learn how to whistle. If you see her at camp, remind her to read her “How To Whistle” book and maybe even give her a few pointers.

Kayla Chambers (Mudd)

Another one of our returning counsellors from last summer is Mudd. Similar to Otter, last summer Mudd learned a lot about with working with people with special needs. This summer she holds one of our special needs counsellor positions.

If you ever have a chance, ask Mudd to play you a tune on her saxophone, she’s pretty great. As her picture shows, it’s rare to see Mudd without a hat. Protection for those sunny days at camp is her #1 priority.

Amy Glassman (Ferret)

Another returning star, Ferret broke out of her shell in 2010 to shine as a trusted and reliable camp counsellor. Her success comes from a lovable demeanor and a never back down from a challenge attitude.

Her wit is quick and often quiet, so keep your ears tuned for a belly full of laughter.
